The Maintenance Tactic where it is consciously been decided to operate function to the point of failure.
Moderator's Comment:
OTF consists of a set of tasks whereby a Failure Finding Task (FFT - inspections or tests), is done to verify if a failure has already occurred, which will then activate a Work Arising Task (WA), to support the corrective work required. These tasks are normally applied to protective and redundant systems where deterioration in function is hidden and random. Examples: Lamp tests on panels, Pressure Relief valve floating, standby system tests etc. The RTF will consist of two standard tasks, the inspection task, and the WA or corrective follow-up task which will be activated if the inspection findings require so.
