Definition:
Tactical Maintenance: Maintenance action based on the condition of the function. The maintenance tactic as a set of tasks whereby a Condition Monitoring task (inspections or tests), is done to verify the condition of the equipment which will then lead to Work Arising (corrective follow-up maintenance task), if the condition is approaching an unacceptable status. It is predictive in nature and the purpose is to prevent unacceptable failure consequences before they occur by monitoring some measurable and evident failure characteristic associated with the condition of the function. CBM is only effective if there is detectable and measurable deterioration in function and if there is adequate warning time to re-act.
