Stanwell Corporation is a Queensland Government owned energy company.

We are a major provider of electricity to Queensland, the National Electricity Market and large energy users, our customers, throughout Australia.

We own and operate Stanwell Power Station west of Rockhampton plus Tarong power stations and Meandu Mine near Kingaroy.

As a company that operates coal-fired power stations, it is Stanwell’s job right now to keep providing reliable electricity at prices that are affordable as the industry transitions to a lower carbon future.

We can ramp generation from our coal-fired power stations up and down as needed, to let solar generation shine in the middle of the day, and still provide the electricity people need in the mornings and evenings. We keep the lights on for our customers.

We can deliver lower cost energy as we own two of the most efficient coal-fired power stations in Australia. Our Meandu Mine provides affordable fuel for our Tarong power stations, and we have long-term coal deals in place to fuel Stanwell Power Station near Rockhampton.

While providing reliable and affordable energy for today, we are also exploring new generation and storage technologies that will help reduce emissions for tomorrow.
